Who are we?
Initiative: Fairness (I:F) is
the public policy committee of the Memphis Gay and Lesbian
Committee Center (MGLCC). I:F was born out of community-widemeetings
held as a result of the 2004 Presidential elections. The I:F
name was endorsed, and committee officially created by the
Board of Directors of MGLCC, in March 2005.
I:F aspires to inform, unite,
and inspire the Memphis Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and
Trangendered (LGBT) community, in a non-partisan and
non-threatening environment, to become more politically
aware of issues and processes affecting our community.
I:F achieves this by
educating the LGBT community on local, State, and National
issues. In addition, I:F brings awareness to public
officials of LGBT concerns. Unification of the Memphis LGBT
community is possible when all are informed and work
together for common causes. At this juncture, inspiration
will inevitably follow.
